Getting started
TiedUp! targets Forge 1.20.1 only — it isn't a Fabric mod and other Minecraft versions aren't supported. Here's what you need, how to install it (and add-on packs), and what to do first in-game.
Requirements & install
Three things to get the mod running, plus how packs load.
Requirements
Minecraft
1.20.1
Minecraft Forge · Java 17
Install the mod
- Install Forge for 1.20.1 and launch the game once.
- Drop the TiedUp!
.jarintomods/. - Launch on the Forge 1.20.1 profile — it loads automatically.
Add-on packs
-
Drop a pack folder or
.zipintoconfig/tiedup/packs/. - It loads automatically — always on, no menus to manage.
-
On servers, each client still needs the pack's
assets/.
.jar in the
server's mods/ folder — every connecting client must also
have the mod installed, or Forge refuses the mismatch.
Your first steps
Once you're in a world with the mod loaded, here's the loop.
Tie something up
Craft a restraint at a crafting table — they're survival-craftable, not creative-only — then right-click another player or mob with it to put it on them, or hold attack to tie yourself. Restraints sit on body regions — arms, mouth, eyes, neck and so on.
Lock it
Combine a padlock with a lockable item in an anvil to seal it shut. Some organic binds ship permanently locked. See Locks & keys.
Get out
Aim the Struggle keybind at a region and hold the shown direction to drain its resistance, or use a lockpick on the lock. Full details in Struggle & escape.
